Are you bored of just posting selfies on Instagram? Or maybe you’re just a bit stumped about what you should be posting? Well fear not, we’ve compiled a list of the top 10 (in no particular order) most instagrammable things you can find in your home! We’ve also included some example posts for further inspiration.
This ones a classic that you’ve most likely seen before, maybe on it’s own or maybe just as a backdrop. It’s so instagrammable for two main reasons. Firstly, providing it’s fairly well stocked, the blend of different books of varying sizes and colours is aesthetically very pleasing. Secondly, it adds a nice #cultured look to your Instagram. You’re not just pretty or handsome, you’re classy too.
2. Record player
Record players have come back into fashion in recent years and therefore also on Instagram. Snapping your record player allows you to shout about the music you like to listen to while also giving you a reason to use the hashtag #vintage – a hashtag with 100M+ posts, therefore allowing you to get involved with in a popular tag that may allow you to get more noticed.

3. Abstract art piece
The wonderful thing about abstract art is you can chat as much rubbish about it as you like and noone can really question you. Take a picture of some abstract monstrosity and say it remins you of a time when you were a kid or that it simply “speaks to my soul”. The other benefit of this strategy is it gives you plenty of options for hashtags for the post.

4. Random statue
This is Instagrammable in the same way as an abstract art piece but with maybe with less leeway on how much rubbish you can spout about it and get away with.
5. Vintage Globe
This one you may not have in your house but on the off chance you do it can make a great post. The benefit of a globe is that you can use it as an opportunity to shout about #travel, a hashtag that regularly gets around 500M posts. Pretty much everyone on the internet, and especially Instagram, love to talk about travelling. You can use the post as an opportunity to talk about a place you’ve been or somewhere you’d like to go. It’ll always look nice and especially if you happen to have a vintage globe to add some elegance to the post.

6. Mug and laptop on a table
A mug and open laptop on a coffee table is a great post that says “I work hard but I keep it stylish”. You don’t have to have been working on a business, maybe you were doing revision for an eam or maybe you were doing research for your blog. You could’ve been watching cat videos on Youtube, basically it doesn’t really matter. Remember that, generally, when it comes to Instagram it’s all about what the picture looks like than what it describes.
This one is another classic. If you haven’t taken a photo of your food you’ve most likely gone out for a meal where you’ve seen someone take one of theres. The reason why people love photos of food on Instagram is for two main reasons. Firstly, it’s often looks nice. Often, food is quite colourful and the variety of shapes and textures are “food” in themselves for our eyes to feast on. Secondly, it’s the food itself. Unlike abstract art, the appreciation of a good dish is much more universal and relatable. The two make a winning combination and will undoubtedly get you some likes as well as the odd love heart eyes or salivating mouth emoji in your comments.
8. A holiday snap
You can’t really go wrong with a holiday snap. Taking a photo of a photo is never ideal but by making sure your camera is in focus and maybe with a slight adjustment on the settings the quality can be pretty good. If it’s a polaroid picture it’s even better than just posting the photo digitally as the #polaroid is a very popular hashtag with about 7 million hits. Holiday snaps are a good post option as they offer your followers a glimpse into a cool place that you’ve visited and also gives you a chance to just do a #throwback post to a time at which you were probably having a lot of fun. You get extra points if it’s also a beach holiday snap, everybody loves the beach shot with a nice blue sea in the background.
Everyone loves cute animal pictures. Nowadays, people often go down the route of making Instagram accounts for their pets with some amassing millions of followers such as jiffpom (9.8 million followers) or itsdougthepug (3.9 million folowers). Whilst you don’t need to go as far as making their own account featuring them on your own Instagram is a surefire way to brighten up your followers Instagram feed and probably get a fair few likes in the process.
10. Musical instruments
Music. If you’re like me you probably tried a few in school. Maybe you started on recorder, then moved to trumpet and then guitar. Maybe you were just stuck playing the triangle. Whether you’ve gone on to become a music maestro or simply have guitar collecting dust in your bedroom, musical instruments provide an easy Instagram post that will allow you to either shout about or lament about your musical side.
So there you have it. Hopefully at least a few of these items you actually have in your house. Just as a note on hashtags, it’s very important you use hashtags in your posts. Stats show that posts with at least one hashtag get 12.6% more engagement that those without. Also, don’t just go for popular hashtags (more than 1 million posts). You’re best bet to maximise potential reach is to use a mixture of popular hashtags as well as some more niche ones (ideally less than 10000).
